Blue Jays Daulton Varsho Taking Seat Sunday

Blue Jays’ Daulton Varsho: Taking Seat Sunday

Varsho to Rest Tight Hamstring, Could Return to Lineup Tuesday

Toronto Blue Jays’ outfielder Daulton Varsho is set to take a seat on the bench on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs due to a tight hamstring, but the team is optimistic that he will be able to return to the lineup as early as Tuesday.

Varsho initially suffered the injury while running the bases in Friday’s game against the Cubs, and he was forced to leave the game early as a result. The Blue Jays initially feared that the injury could be more serious, but an MRI on Saturday revealed that it was just a strain.

The Blue Jays are hoping that Varsho will be able to miss just one game, but they will be cautious with him and make sure that he is fully recovered before putting him back in the lineup. Varsho has been a key part of the Blue Jays’ offense this season, batting .269 with 11 home runs and 38 RBIs.

Blue Jays’ lineup for Sunday’s game against the Cubs:

  • George Springer, CF
  • Whit Merrifield, 2B
  • Matt Chapman, 3B
  • Vladimir Guerrero Jr., DH
  • Bo Bichette, SS
  • Lourdes Gurriel Jr., LF
  • Raimel Tapia, RF
  • Danny Jansen, C
  • Kevin Gausman, P
