6 Committee Votes to Hold Trumps Former Chief of Staff Meadows in Contempt

House to Vote on Contempt Resolution

Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows Faces Charges

The House Select Committee investigating the January 6th Capitol riot has voted 6-0 to hold former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows in contempt of Congress. The contempt resolution will now go to the House floor for a vote.

Meadows is one of four Trump allies who have been subpoenaed by the committee and have refused to cooperate. The other three are Steve Bannon, Jeffrey Clark, and Kash Patel.

The committee's investigation has uncovered evidence that Meadows was involved in planning and coordinating efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election. He was also present at the January 6th rally that preceded the attack on the Capitol.

In a statement, the committee said that Meadows "has refused to cooperate with the Select Committee's investigation in any meaningful way." The committee also said that Meadows' "conduct is a clear violation of law and a threat to our democracy."

If the House votes to approve the contempt resolution, Meadows could face a fine or imprisonment. He could also be barred from running for federal office in the future.
